Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic

FAQs

How can physio benefit you?

Physiotherapy helps to reduce pain, restore strength and movement and prevent further issues following a physical impairment. Such problems can arise for any number of reasons such as acute incidents like sports injuries or work accidents through to acute or chronic spinal pain through to issues following surgery. We use a variety of techniques in order to achieve treatment goals such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation and manipulation, acupuncture and also by engaging the client with an ongoing rehab and maintenance programme.

What can I expect from my initial visit?

We will take a detailed history of your presenting problem, physically assess the issue, formulate and deliver a treatment plan and more than likely conclude the session with a few tips and/or exercises to assist in the rehab process.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. We are able to assess your problem without a referral from another health professional. If the problem that you present with is covered under the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) guidelines we can fill out the appropriate paperwork onsite.

What will it cost me?

Physiotherapy is subsidised for injuries covered by ACC however there is a part-payment of $20-30 for each visit. Treatment not covered by ACC costs $60-70 per session. If you have health insurance some or all of this may be able to be claimed back off the insurer.

Who do we treat?

Anyone. Over 20 years in physiotherapy we have treated pre-schoolers through to people in their 90’s with problems ranging from ankle sprains to ongoing spinal pain to post operative shoulder surgery to professional sportspeople with all manner of injuries.

Acupuncture?

This is one of the tools we have in an attempt to sort out pain and dysfunction. It involves the insertion of fine needles into the skin in order to relieve pain and restore function. There are various ways in which this can be administered. You can discuss with your physiotherapist whether this could be a treatment option for you.
